About our family business
Independently owned and run by us for you, Bridgewater Funeral Service is wholly owned and run by a local family with both historic and current ties to the surrounding area.
Our Funeral Director and Proprietor
Emma Turnbull has served the local community as a Funeral Director offering help with your funeral plans for over 20 years many of which were spent at Cheethams Funeral Directors in Walkden, following her desire to continue giving local families the care and attention they deserve with their funeral plans, Emma felt the need to leave the employment of the Co-op owned Cheethams to enable her to open a family run funeral service. It was almost 2 years in the planning and following a complete refurbishment of our premises on the Standfield Centre in Boothstown, Bridgewater Funeral Service opened in July 2014. Due to the need for more space and the changing environment on the Standfield Centre, Bridgewater Funeral Service acquired 27 Chaddock Lane Boothstown in early 2018 and almost immediately started renovating the Iconic 1920 building.
In May 2019, Bridgewater Funeral Service opened its doors to the public at 27 Chaddock Lane. Designed to offer a relaxed and comforting environment the new premises offer’s private carparking facilities, spacious areas with modern décor and two beautiful arrangement rooms overlooking a private landscaped garden.
Honesty and Integrity are words used by many Funeral Directors but unlike Emma few have consistently proved these qualities over 20 years of serving the families of our local area. Emma has guided thousands of local families with their funeral plans through what can be an extremely difficult and emotional time, and feels privileged to be entrusted with the care of so many loved ones.
27 Chaddock Lane, (opposite Boothstown Methodist Church) was chosen for its character, space and convenient location with private parking facilities, we have created a functional and tasteful funeral home to accommodate families and their loved ones. In addition to spacious reception, and two private arrangement rooms we also have three large chapels of rest.
During our refurbishment we designed the layout with disabled access in mind ensuring all public areas are on one level and fitted with wide doorways in addition to suitable toilet facilities.
Your trust is important to us and we know it is essential that once your loved one enters into our care they remain in our care. To enable this we paid particular attention to installing suitable on site preparation facilities during our refurbishment.
Emma has had a long association with Walkden Rotary and in 2015 was elected president. Rotary clubs carry out a huge range of activities and projects locally aimed at improving and building community spirit. Many charities are appreciative of their local Rotary club for the money they receive through initiatives such as sponsored bike rides, Christmas collections and other fund raising events. A huge amount of hands on work is also carried out by members, such as organising and supervising days out for disadvantaged children, volunteering at local resident homes, and working with schools to run competitions. The list of local projects and initiatives is endless. Each Rotary club individually tailors the projects they get involved in to their community’s specific needs.
In addition to her wealth of experience as a funeral director Emma also holds nationally recognised qualifications achieved through the National Association of Funeral Directors and is a long term licensed member of the British Institute of Funeral Directors.
Bridgewater Funeral Service is an approved member of the National Association of Funeral Directors and subscribe to its code of practice.
